Can widely-accessible/universal testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19) benefit the health-outcome of an *individual*?
(I am not a clinician, so it's quite possible I am missing something obvious.)

Tried but failed to explain to someone (who is used to routine swab/culture for a sore throat, as well as diagnostic testing on demand) why I didn't see Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing of any demonstrable use towards a more positive health-outcome for an individual.

Any possible test result, positive or negative, accurate or not, does not impact the establishment or development of an infection in that individual. Any treatment is to manage symptoms, not the initiating virus.

(Possible benefits to society, like more stringent and particular measures to prevent an individual from communicating the virus to others, or perhaps for statistical analysis, seem more apparent.)
