It's in E major. Play the chord of E. Sing the third note of the E scale (mi). That's your start note. Don't worry what each note is called, or what the # do. Just go up the scale when the dots move up, and vice versa.

When the note just sung is on a line, and the next is on the next line, sing the scale note two notes away. Easier to 'sing' the missing note in your head on the way.

There are no accidentals, which tell us that all the notes are within the scale - no changed notes. We call them diatonic.

The tune is very easy, (the rhythm might cause some problems for a beginner)

a) first sing the DoReMiFaSo

if you don't know what this means, just sing the scale lalala
(by counting 1,2,3,4,5)
if you don't know what this means, just think of the first line of "a groovy kind of love" by Phil Collins.

b) then have a look at the sheet music

line=Do (1)
line=Mi (3)
line=So (5)

the notes between the lines are Re an Fa (2 and 4)
and the lowest one is la (la)

try to sing the tune of this film sound track:

(only the verse, it starts at 25" and ends at 57")

a) mi mi mire do

re re redo la

b) so do doti dore mi_ re_

a) mi mi mire do

re re redo la

b') so do doti dore mi re do.

Concerning the rhythm:

white notes: count 2 beats (long)

black notes and tied notes 1 beat (short)

crotchets (very short)
