Do smart watches, like the new Apple Watch 6, measure SpO2 or StO2?
Traditional methods of measuring SpO2 use pulse oximetry, which uses LEDs on one side of the finger and Photodiodes on the other side of the finger. NIRS methods for measuring StO2 make use of LEDs and Photodiodes on the same side of the device, like smartwatches seem to be doing. However, on the internet, I can only find mentions of SPO2.
My question: which is it??
