Scoring systems and different mortality definitions for liver cirrhosis?
May I check with you on the below terms please?
a) Operative mortality - Any death due to a surgery within 30 days after surgery. Let's say if 10 people have liver surgery and 5 peopld die within 30 days from day of surgery. Does it mean 50% of operative mortality?
b) Perioperative mortality - How can we know perioperative mortality? Does it mean how many people die because of not having a specific surgery?
c) Post-operative mortality - Is it same as "Operative mortality"?
d) Is child-pugh score and MELD score the same? If there is any difference, can you let me know?
e) With whatever I read online, I feel the below are common points between two scores
a) both are used to indicate severity of existing liver condition
b) can indicate whether we need liver surgery or transplant
c) Can give us survival rate if we have a liver surgery (bsaed on our current liver condition)
