Headphones for electric guitar
I'm looking for headphones I can plug directly into my guitar. I found a pair at target a while back but I couldn't find it again. I don't want a mini amp. Anyone know of such a device?

The Vox AmPlug's do a great job of power your guitars into headphones for ~. There are also cheaper versions that do NOT sound as good but do the job available on amazon.com around . Vox used to sell some 0 headphones that had similar features to the AmPlug with the electronics embedded in the headphones. It's cheaper to use the AmPlug and the headphones of your choice for the best
comfort or sound quality.
You need headphones with some sort of pre-amp in line, and I'm guessing you want it integral to the cans themselves. I've never seen such a beast.
I've got a Tom Scholz Rockman from the 80's that works great for practising quietly, but that's an external unit you plug both the guitar and phones into.
I wonder if you had a guitar with active electronics (i.e. a built-in pre-amp) would it throw a hot enough signal to drive a pair of headphones? Probably depend on impedance, etc, but you might want to give it a try.
There's a cool DIY electronics project called the CMOY amp that's intended as a portable mini headphone amp. If you like to tinker and build things, Google search for CMOY kit sellers, there are many and price and quality vary. Or just type 'CMOY amp' into Amazon and buy a complete assembled model for about bucks. It fits into an Altoids tin and should probably suit your purpose.
Finally, I think Vox makes a small gizmo that plugs into your guitar jack and is designed to accept a headphone jack. I know you said you don't want a mini-amp, but I've never seen headphones with a built-in amp, so I'm just trying to offer all possible options you might want to have a look at.
Best of luck.
