How can I write a new melody to fit an existing song?
I've seen people play a particular song on a violin, and after the bridge, they play something else rather than the chorus of the song.
Is there a way i can make my own kind of music that still fits the song?
Thanks

Jazz players do it all the time. Extemporisation, playing the changes, improvising are words for it. Listz used to do it all the time on piano, Bach et al used it so it's not new. To make a start, try using the major pentatonic scale notes in the key of that section. If it's minor, then use the minor pent. notes. All this does is remove a couple of notes which have more tendency to clash with what else's being played. If you're aware of the chord structure of the section, then use that as your guide. And the oft quoted - 'if it sounds good, it probably is' even if you can't work out the theory of why a phrase should/n't fit!
