Why do different labs give different reference ranges?
I've seen various result printouts from different labs, and for the same test, they have different reference ranges.
For example, I've seen some labs writing that the reference range for blood creatanine is 0.6-1.2. Others say that it's 0.6-1.0. Is it that they disagree over the reference range or do they just have different equipment with different tolerances (so a creatanine level of 1.1 on machine 1 would be 0.9 in machine 2)?
