This is a rather broad question, but I am torn.

I inherited a townhouse from a relative.

Does anyone have any insight into the long term value of selling vs renting?

(I'm handy, computer competent, always wanted to own rental property)

The way I see it:

Rent:

Pros: maybe 00/mo, property keeps me connected to relative, an asset that should go up in value over time

Cons: Being a landlord, condo fee, maintenance costs.

.

Sell:

Pros: Lump sum in my pocket at today's market price, invest in the stock market.

Cons: No asset to borrow against or have for the future.
