Will prolonged fasting immediately and temporarily stop SIBO-caused gas buildup and belching?
If a person fasts for several days, the intestines will clear out and there will be nothing for small-intestinal bacteria to ferment and create gas, which means belching caused by SIBO should stop. Is this true? In other words, could someone test for SIBO by fasting and monitoring belching? If it stops, then it’s SIBO (or some other digestive issue) and not something like aerophagia?
