What are the most expensive medications to manufacture?
I'm aware that the chief reason likely the vast majority of ludicrously priced medications are as such, is not because they're expensive to produce per se, but because pharmaceutical companies have to make a profit (after initial development costs, other overhead, etc), and want to make the biggest profit possible (and so engage in whatever price gougery they can get away with against a captive market).
But I'm not really interested in those reasons right now. I'm wondering which medications are most expensive for their reagents and/or production processes alone (excluding startup costs, for the latter). As in, if a vial of the medicine were accidentally destroyed, how much would that mistake materially cost to the manufacturer?
