How common are multiple infections?
When people are sick and can't come to work, they usually say something like "I had the flue" or "I had diarrhea". So people seem to assume that if one disease is confirmed, all symptoms belong to that disease.

Can diseases block other diseases? I would assume that it becomes more likely to get another one, simply because one is weakened.

Looking at the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, I was wondering how one can attribute them to COVID-19. They have a pretty large overlap with the flue and I guess there are many other diseases which cause fever, dry cough or fatigue. Is there a way to exclude other diseases once one has once disease confirmed?
