What key flute (dizi) is recommended for starting flute player?
I'm planning on buying a Dizi (Chinese traverse bamboo flute). Dizi is a diatonic flute, so dizis come in different keys.
The options I'm considering from are:
F key dizi can play in: F major, C major, D minor, A minor
C key dizi can play in: C major, G major, A minor, E minor
D key dizi can play in: D major, A major, B minor, F# minor
Bass A dizi can play: A major, E major, F# minor, C# minor
Bass G dizi can play: G major, D major, E minor, B minor
My goal is to learn playing the flute and eventually start playing music together with other people (who are amateurs as well). Which key flute would be the best suited for this? I do like the sound of the bass flutes, but they do tend to be large, so I'm not sure they are best suited for beginners.

It appears that a dizi in D is easier to play than the others, and a lot of traditional music is written in that key. So there's a solution.
I'd have advocated buying three or four, but they aren't cheap! Good quality, at least. Having had a look around, there are cheap ones available for £10-£20, so it's feasible to buy those three or four for some people, who would then open up more options.
