Do comorbidities that have an important negative impact for COVID-19 patients are generally affecting patients with viral infections?
I have often seen in media about the comorbidities that make things worse for a COVID-19 patient. The most often mentioned are hypertension and diabetes as also mentioned in this article:
From what is known at the moment, patients with COVID-19 disease who
have comorbidities, such as hypertension or diabetes mellitus, are
more likely to develop a more severe course and progression of the
disease.
I am wondering if this is something specific to SARS-COV2 and a few other viral infections or these type of underlying conditions are complicating things for most viral infected patients.
