Is there a mathematical relationship between total blood volume and cardiac output / stroke volume?
I'm looking into the body's response to traumatic hypovolemia, and I was wondering if there exists a mathematical relationship between total blood volume (TBV) and stroke volume (SV). All of the publications I've seen qualitatively assert that hemorrhage results in a decreased stroke volume, which is quite intuitive. Has anyone come across a quantitative function of stroke volume as a function of blood loss (BL)?
I know that the body's response can be complicated, so if such a function does not exist, then what would the plot of SV vs BL look like? Is it linear, logarithmic; does the shape vary with the amount of blood lost?
